About Us
We’re excited to spill the dirt about ourselves, and share our journey with you.
Having grown up in the beautiful Perth Hills, we, Matt and Jess, have always felt a deep passion for gardening, nature and growing our own food, while trying to contribute to the wellbeing of the earth.
Our mission is beautifully uncomplicated: we are dedicated to providing our community with quality gardening products that nurture the earth. We hold the belief that gardening is more than just a hobby; it’s a way to connect with nature, improve mental and emotional wellbeing and build relationships within our community.
We collaborate directly with local farmers to source our products, allowing us to gain an understanding of where they are cultivated and how they are produced. This connection allows us to offer our customers transparent information about our products.
A little about Matt…
Growing up in a garden centre owned by his parents, Matt spent his childhood following his Dad around, soaking up his knowledge. With an adventurous nature, Matt was operating a bobcat long before most kids learned to ride a bike.
For the Darlington locals you may have spotted Matt in his bobcat with his loyal blue healer Perri happily perched on the back enjoying the ride. (Perri, with her playful spirit, prefers unearthing plants rather than planting them!).
Matt took to the roads, delivering gardening supplies to the Hills community from the moment he got his licence. It was during a delivery of sawdust to Jess's parent's house that Matt and Jess first met.
Matt's Mum runs her own floristry business, and both of his parents remain deeply involved in their garden and the rhythms of farm life.
A little about Jess…
Jess grew up in Darlington, where her home was nestled among bushland with the Helena River flowing at the property's edge. As an only child, nature became a cherished friend, after school was a tapestry of adventure, climbing trees, tadpole-catching missions, and plucking leaches from her legs after playing in the river. Jess had the freedom of outdoor adventures as long as she was home before dark and dinner time.
Sundays held a special magic, as her father would let her sit on his lap while he would mow the lawn with the ride-on mower, her beloved teddy bear in tow. To this day, Jess still loves the smell of freshly cut grass.
Jess’s Mum would always have Jess in the garden with her, gifting her a special little patch of earth to grow her own flowers and vegetables. They would sit and watch the birds as they flitted to the birdbaths and sipped nectar from the flowers. The garden was a sanctuary for Jess's Mum, a place where she discovered serenity. Although Jess's mother has since passed, Jess still feels her spirit in the garden, sharing quiet moments, as they continue to share the joy of watching the birds together.
Our parents are a big part of who we are and instilled the values we have today. They have taught us you can always find joy in a garden, no matter how big or small. We continue to learn from one another and exchange knowledge with fellow gardeners, and Matt still calls his dad for gardening tips.
